The Tiger Discourse Has Peaked. Retire the Bit.
A man died in Doncaster. The /tv/ catalog turned it into a Fishtank thread. We have gone too far.
The Landon tiger discourse is eating itself, and it is time to say so plainly.
When Landon called himself "The Tiger" on day 7 of Fishtank Season 5, it was genuinely funny. Earned, even. The man had just won a challenge by pressing production relentlessly, got into a slap fight with JD, and delivered the line with the complete sincerity of someone who had no idea how good television he was making. The audience felt it. His Stox reflected it. Production gave him a song. He deserved all of it.
That was March. This is October.
A man reportedly died at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster on October 10th, according to coverage circulating on /tv/, after allegedly entering a tiger enclosure. Witnesses, per local media accounts referenced in the thread, described shots being fired. Within 48 hours, a separate /tv/ thread appeared asking whether Landon would have shot the tiger. Another thread from September asked whether his tiger identity was ever genuine or just cope. These are, to be precise about it, three separate threads milking the same Fishtank bit across six weeks, the last of which used a real person's death as its premise.
Here is the sharp part: the original Landon tiger moment worked because it was completely unperformed. He was not doing a character. He was just a guy in a headband who cleaned things and believed, briefly and totally, that he was a tiger. That authenticity is what made the audience love him. The /tv/ threads are the opposite of that. They are entirely performed, recursive, and now, with the Doncaster angle, genuinely uncomfortable.
Landon finished fourth. He beat Clayton in a box. He got his hair cut by a stranger named JB and took it in stride. He is fine. The bit does not need to be kept on life support by anonymous posters attaching it to a tragedy in northern England.
Some things are allowed to end. For everyone still posting in these threads, this correspondent asks: what would Landon's Song say about this? Probably something about cleaning up and moving on. Take the note.
