Bam Margera Is Hospitalized After a Kayak Cliff-Dive, One Week After Remembering Ryan Dunn

The call, according to reporting first flagged by IMDb on October 15, came after a kayak cliff-dive. Bam Margera, 46, host of Fishtank Season 5 and a man who has spent the better part of three decades converting his own body into a test site, was hospitalized. The circumstances beyond that description remain, at the time of publication, thin. What is confirmed, per that reporting, is that he went in. And that afterward, he required medical attention.

To understand October 15, one must return to October 8.

Seven days before the hospitalization was reported, a tribute circulated across social platforms. Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Bam Margera had apparently come together to mark what would have been Ryan Dunn's 38th birthday, according to IMDb coverage of the moment. Dunn, who died in a car crash in 2011, remains the gravitational loss at the center of Jackass. Bam, by most accounts, has never fully left the orbit of that grief. The tribute was tender, by the standards of men who built careers around controlled chaos. It did not last.

A week later, Margera was apparently in a kayak. On a cliff. Going over it.

The specifics of where, with whom, and under what production or personal context the cliff-dive occurred have not been confirmed by this publication. What the IMDb report describes is the aftermath: hospitalization. The word "crazy" appears in that headline, deployed without apparent irony, which tells you something about the baseline expectations now attached to anything involving Margera and an elevation change.

This is not a man who has been sitting still. The known record of the past two months alone includes a sold-out sneaker collaboration with Fallen Footwear, a Kick livestream debut, an announced Australian tour, a music video cameo, and a cannabis brand launch that arrived alongside sobriety claims in early September. The schedule of a man reconstituting something. The kayak cliff-dive, if the characterization holds, suggests that reconstitution has not necessarily involved a quieter relationship with risk.

What makes this moment genuinely complicated is the Fishtank context. Bam was announced as Season 5 host on March 10, 2026, the first season in which Sam Hyde would not serve in that role. His signing was treated, by fans and by the platform, as a statement of intent about what the show could be. A hospitalization, depending on severity and circumstance, raises obvious questions about continuity, scheduling, and the terms of whatever arrangement Fishtank has with its host. Those questions have not been answered, because they have not been asked publicly by anyone with the information to answer them.

Sources who requested anonymity because the group chat is private have indicated that the clip, if one exists, has not been widely distributed as of publication. That absence is its own data point.

History will note that the week in which Bam Margera remembered a friend who died young was also the week Bam Margera ended up in a hospital. It will not record what he was thinking when the kayak left the cliff. That part belongs to him. What belongs to the rest of us is the uncomfortable arithmetic of watching someone operate at the edge of their own legend, one stunt past the point where the crowd can tell whether they are cheering or holding their breath.
