kai cenat is teaching teenagers about money now and honestly why not
per designrush, the man who sells $550 backpacks has financial advice for the youth. the irony is not lost on anyone.
kai cenat should do this.
per a designrush report from september 21, kai cenat is pointing his audience toward something called 'milkXP,' a financial literacy program aimed at teenagers. the pitch is essentially: lock in, learn money stuff, do not be broke.
and look, chat, on paper this is genuinely good. the guy has 50 million twitch followers or whatever the current number is. if he tells a generation of teens to learn about compound interest instead of, i don't know, dunking on druski's outfits, that is a net positive for civilization.
but we have to sit with the full picture for a second.
this is the same week the vivet $550 backpack is still a recent memory. the same guy who just ran a wolverine marathon stream. the same person who, per his own recent interviews, is so famous he allegedly cannot go to an airport. his relationship with money is 'spend it on runway shows and invite lauryn hill.'
none of that disqualifies him from the message. in fact it might be the whole point. he knows what it looks like when money moves fast and the infrastructure is not there. that is a real lesson.
the cynical read is that this is brand adjacency, a feel-good partnership that polishes the image right after a lawsuit cycle and a $550 backpack discourse. the generous read is that he is 23 and trying to build something that outlasts the streams. both reads can be true.
teenagers are going to listen to him regardless. they were going to watch six hours of wolverine content at midnight. if some percentage of them also open a savings account, the math works out fine.
anyway. the $550 backpack was the financial literacy all along.
