Hasan Piker Has Five Words for Ethan Klein's Alleged Affair. The Internet Has Considerably More.
A political firestorm, a Ted Cruz lawsuit threat, and a Democratic civil war somehow did not stop HasanAbi from weighing in on the H3H3 implosion. Allegedly.
Darlings, the man is fighting on approximately eleven fronts right now, and he still had time to take a shot.
Per The Express Tribune, Hasan Piker responded to Hila Klein publicly accusing her husband Ethan Klein of having an affair, and he did it in five words. Five. The outlet did not reproduce the statement in full, but the framing, per AOL and multiple aggregators picking up the clip, is that Piker mocked Klein's morals. Specifically. Pointedly. In public.
This is a journey, because Ethan Klein and Hasan Piker have a history that stretches back through the Frenemies era and several layers of public beef. And now Ethan Klein is allegedly the subject of a Vulture explainer headlined "What the H3ll Is Going on With Ethan Klein?" which, candidly, is a headline that writes its own eulogy. The Express Tribune separately notes that Klein's past on-camera remarks about men who cheat on their wives have begun resurfacing with the kind of timing that can only be described as cosmically inconvenient. Darling, that is not a denial of anything, that is just gravity.
Piker, per an LSF submission from October 23rd, apparently opened his stream by allegedly "mogging all of his opps," which is the streamer-economy way of saying he was in a good mood about the current state of his enemies. Given that his enemies currently include Ted Cruz, several House Democrats, Amy Klobuchar, Angie Craig, the Washington Examiner, and apparently now also the moral high ground over at the H3H3 compound, "mogging" is doing real heavy lifting here.
And if this feels familiar, it is because Piker has a documented habit of surviving weeks that would hospitalize a lesser influencer and then emerging on stream looking utterly unbothered. We covered the Ted Cruz lawsuit threat. We covered the Minneapolis event becoming a Democratic party grenade. None of it has visibly slowed him down for even a content cycle.
Meanwhile, the political circus kept spinning. CBS News and Willmar Radio both confirmed on October 23rd that Representative Ilhan Omar is still planning to appear at the Minneapolis event this Friday, despite the weeks of condemnation from Klobuchar, Craig, Jewish community leaders, and a coalition of House colleagues who would apparently very much prefer she did not. Omar is also, per those same outlets, planning to relocate from her DC home. We wish her strength in this trying time of her own scheduling.
Also on October 23rd, The Hill's Rising ran a clip in which Mehdi Hasan pressed political commentator Matthew Yglesias on why he keeps focusing on Piker specifically, to which Yglesias reportedly responded, "You got me!" We love growth. The audacity of getting caught being extremely online about a streamer on a segment about being extremely online about a streamer.
The Star Tribune, for its part, ran a "Cheers and Jeers" item including the Minneapolis event alongside gang violence and speeding tickets, which is an editorial juxtaposition that Piker's critics will screenshot and his fans will also screenshot, for entirely different reasons. Keep receipts, as always.
My loves, Ethan Klein allegedly had an affair, his old takes about cheaters are now evidence, Hasan Piker said five words about it and the internet exploded, and somewhere Ted Cruz is still trying to figure out if he can sue over a clip his opponent says is shortened. Friday's Minneapolis event is either going to be completely uneventful or must-watch television. We are not betting on uneventful.
