What is surprising, or at least worth treating with the gravity it deserves, is the specific shape of his grievance. It was not simply that the VOD came down. It was that his VOD came down while others did not.

To Understand Friday, One Must Return to the Architecture of Platform Enforcement

Content moderation at scale has always been imprecise. Twitch, a platform owned by Amazon, processes an enormous volume of content daily, and DMCA enforcement in particular has historically operated in waves rather than sweeps. The Specific Insult of Inconsistency

Whether it reflects something specific or is simply practical wisdom from a man who has watched this particular genre of stream go wrong before is not known.

For now, the VOD is gone. The others are not. And somewhere in that asymmetry lives a question about what it means to be subject to rules that do not appear to apply equally, on a platform you no longer call home, in a dispute over a game that has not even come out yet.
