The Obituary Feed Situation Has Now Produced Two More Obituaries

On August 1 and August 3, 2026, two additional obituaries bearing versions of the name James Charles were indexed alongside coverage of YouTuber James Charles (jamescharles) on Google News. MAFKR has now counted at least six such entries since mid-July.

Who are the latest two. Clark Funeral Homes published a notice for James Charles Miller on August 1. The Star Democrat, via Legacy obituary search, published a notice for James Scott of Huelock, MD, indexed on August 3. Neither individual has any documented connection to the YouTube creator.

Why this keeps happening. Google News aggregates by keyword match. The creator's name is common enough in both its halves that any obituary containing "James" and "Charles" in proximity can surface in the same feed. No platform intervention has been reported.

What the pattern looks like now. For the record, the count as of August 3 stands at a minimum of six distinct obituary or funeral-home entries indexed under James Charles creator coverage since July 15. Entries have come from Ohio, Maryland, and unspecified outlets. The pace has not slowed.

What the creator has said. As of August 4, James Charles has not publicly addressed the obituary indexing pattern.

What we do not know. Whether Google has received any flagging or complaint about the aggregation behavior, whether any of the funeral homes or families are aware of the indexing, and whether additional entries are already queued in the feed.

What happens next. Open questions include whether the aggregation resolves on its own as the creator's name drops from trending keyword pools, whether any outlet files a formal complaint with Google over the misfired indexing, and whether the count climbs further before the week closes.
