SNL's Michael Che Apparently Had No Idea Who Hasan Piker Was. He Mocked Him Anyway.

A comedian walks into an interview blind. Fox News is running a rhetoric highlight reel. And Piker is heading to Minneapolis whether anyone likes it or not.

Darlings, there is something exquisitely funny about being roasted by someone who did not even bother to look you up first.

According to a thread blowing up on r/LivestreamFail, SNL's Michael Che was apparently booked for an interview with Hasan Piker and showed up having, per the post, no idea who he was. News24 is calling what followed Piker getting "hilariously mocked" by a comedian who walked in completely cold. The audacity of competence from someone operating on pure instinct. Che did not need a Wikipedia tab open. He just needed thirty seconds and a working sense of humor.

For context: this is the same Hasan Piker who has spent the past two weeks being profiled by The Atlantic, dissected by Le Monde, and name-dropped in a Georgia Senate debate. The man has become a genuine political weather system. And yet Michael Che, Weekend Update anchor, allegedly treated the whole thing like a warmup bit. We wish Hasan strength in this trying time of his own making.

From there the week only got louder. Fox News published at least two pieces this week specifically about Piker defending his use of terms like "inbred" and "Zionist pig" against opponents, with the second piece dropping October 16th under the headline flagging "incendiary terms." Per those reports, Piker did not walk the language back. He defended it. A moment. WKU Public Radio was apparently running it between Social Security news and a traffic update, which is a sentence I did not expect to type today.

And if this feels familiar, it's because just days ago Fox News was already tying Piker to a New York socialist candidate's ICE comments and running a two-part deep-dive profile on him. The network has essentially given the man a standing segment at this point. Keep receipts, because the rhetorical terms story is almost certainly not the last Fox News piece this week.

Meanwhile, Piker is physically heading to Minneapolis. A DSA-backed state lawmaker is hosting an event featuring both Piker and Ilhan Omar, and the Star Tribune ran a piece October 15th noting his "controversial remarks are following him" into Minnesota. Alpha News MN is already calling it a "far-left" gathering. Omar is now facing what one outlet described as a "blistering attack" specifically over her ties to Piker, which means the Minneapolis event has already done political damage before Piker has set foot on the stage.

Separately, Piker went on record this week, per Yahoo, ripping New York Jewish voters for shifting away from Democrats and attributing it to Israel policy. That one landed on the same day as the rhetoric defense cycle, so the news cycle around him is currently running three lanes wide simultaneously.

The Che interview is the delicious part, though. Because every other week it is a Senate candidate invoking his name, or a Fox News anchor reading his tweets aloud in prime time, or an NPR reporter asking him earnestly how he feels about being a boogeyman. And then Michael Che shows up, allegedly clueless, and just dunks on him anyway. That is the cameo he did not script.

My loves, Hasan Piker has become so large a cultural object that comedians are now accidentally stumbling into bits about him. He is not a person anymore. He is a location.

Prediction: the Minneapolis event produces at least one clip that Fox News airs within six hours of it ending.

WHO'S INVOLVED: Hasan Piker
