In the same Axios interview that produced the now-infamous "pound for pound" comparison, Hasan Piker also told the camera, per multiple outlets including CNN and the New York Post, that the Middle East would be "more stable" if Iran had nuclear weapons. Allegedly. On camera. In the year of our lord 2026. With a Michigan Senate race in progress.

The audacity of a two-for-one.

The Free Press ran a full piece titled "The Moral Illiteracy of Hasan Piker." The Jerusalem Post flagged the al-Qaeda quote specifically. The Times of India ran a headline with the word "shock" in it. Conservative media has, perhaps understandably, treated this week like Christmas morning. Meanwhile Abdul El-Sayed, per Fox News, is reportedly trying to "put the Hasan Piker debate behind him as midterms approach," which is a lovely sentiment from a man who has been asked about little else for two weeks straight.

Joe Scarborough apparently had some thoughts about that. According to Yahoo, Scarborough grilled El-Sayed on Morning Joe specifically for dismissing Piker as "just a streamer in California," pressing him directly: "Don't you think it's disingenuous?" El-Sayed, who has now deployed some version of the "he's just a streamer" line at least three times on national television, did not, per available reports, offer a response that satisfied anyone in that studio.

Darling, that is not a denial. That is a man trying to walk through a wall that keeps moving.

John Fetterman Has Seen Enough

Here is where it gets interesting.

Senator John Fetterman, who has spent much of the past year positioning himself as the Democrat willing to say uncomfortable things out loud, told Real Clear Politics and The Hill something that no other elected Democrat has been willing to put on record: "I feel like I lost to Hasan Piker." His team clarified, per The Hill, that what Fetterman meant was he "can't compete" with Piker for the progressive base's attention, adding the words "base loves him."

Sit with that for a moment. A sitting United States senator is conceding the audience war to a Twitch streamer from California. Not framing it as a crisis. Not issuing a stern statement. Just sort of... acknowledging it as a weather condition.

And if this feels familiar, it's because The Hill published a piece just three days ago asking "Why Democrats Keep Coming Back to Hasan Piker" while simultaneously every Democrat on television was being asked to disavow him. Fetterman did not come back to Piker. Fetterman admitted Piker had already lapped him. Those are very different things.

Fox News, naturally, ran the Fetterman quote under the headline "Fetterman blasts Democrats over campaign ties to Hasan Piker," which is doing some generous interpretive work. What Fetterman actually appeared to be doing was less a blast and more a eulogy. We wish him strength in this trying time of his own making.

Scott Jennings went on the record, per Yahoo, arguing that Piker is "a core part of how El-Sayed plans to win," in the same breath noting that Tucker Carlson has also voiced support for El-Sayed. That is a coalition that should give everyone pause regardless of where they sit politically. A former Biden aide told Fox News that Piker's views are "in line" with some progressives. The Chicago Tribune editorial board called Piker "deadweight" for the campaign. Everyone is correct and no one is talking to each other.

The Part Where He Announces 2028

Here is the detail that the rest of the coverage is somewhat burying. According to Axios, in that same interview, Piker told the outlet he wants to campaign for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2028.

A journey.

The man currently starring in Michigan Senate attack ads, allegedly inciting various lawsuits, getting grilled on Morning Joe by proxy, and producing a two-bomb Axios appearance that has consumed a full week of Democratic messaging, has announced he is not retreating. He is extending the timeline. He is pointing at 2028 and saying: that one too.

WME is still with him, as we covered earlier this week. His follower count is not going down. The real scoreboard, which is reach and cultural footprint, shows no signs of the correction that his critics are predicting. The Daily Texan reported ongoing "discourse" about the UT Austin student organization hosting him, with both sides of the aisle apparently unhappy, which in 2026 is essentially a glowing review.

Dave Rubin told Fox News he was "not particularly surprised" by Piker's evolution from streamer to political player. That is the most honest sentence anyone has said about this situation all week.

My loves, the man said Iran should have nukes, compared the United States to al-Qaeda by death toll, announced his 2028 plans, and made a sitting senator admit defeat, all in one interview cycle. Keep receipts, because at this rate there will be more.

Prediction: AOC's 2028 campaign will not be asking El-Sayed for advice on how to handle this.
