Hasan Piker Cannot Go Anywhere Right Now Without Someone Running Up On Him
A Sacramento canvassing rally for a flood control candidate. Hundreds of attendees. One alleged stalker. One former TYT employee with a fraud claim. This is fine.
The man cannot get a moment's peace, and honestly, darlings, that is the price of being the most polarizing streamer in American politics one week before the midterms.
While the $72.5 million lawsuit news cycle was still hot, Piker showed up in Sacramento to canvass for Mai Vang, per the Sacramento Bee and the State Hornet, reportedly drawing hundreds to a get-out-the-vote rally for a candidate whose central issue is, and we cannot stress this enough, flood control. A journey.
It would have been an almost charming detour from the Minneapolis chaos, the Scott Jennings lawsuit, the Ted Cruz beef, and the entire national media apparatus treating one Twitch streamer as the bellwether of Democratic Party collapse. Almost.
According to a thread on r/LivestreamFail, Piker abruptly ended an IRL stream in Sacramento after someone who allegedly wanted to "talk" approached him. The post describes the person as a stalker. No further details have been confirmed, but the pattern of Piker requiring a security escort, first spotted leaving the Minneapolis theater, is apparently continuing across state lines.
And then there is Kimani Okearah. A separate LSF submission, also from today, claims Okearah, described as a former TYT employee, attempted to physically confront Piker in Sacramento and has accused both Piker and Twitch CEO Dan Clancy of fraud. The audacity of a field trip. The specifics of the alleged fraud claim are not detailed in the signal, and nothing here is confirmed, but the image of someone chasing a streamer through Sacramento over a dispute that allegedly involves the CEO of Twitch is the kind of sentence that requires you to sit down for a moment.
If this feels familiar, it is because Piker has spent most of October being approached by people who have strong feelings about him, from Jesse Watters defending him on Fox News to protesters outside Minneapolis to now apparently a former employee of the network that made him famous.
We wish him comfortable walking shoes, my loves, because he is apparently going to need them.
Prediction: by Sunday he will be doing a stream about all of this from what he will describe as a "secure location" and it will do 80,000 concurrent viewers minimum.
