Felix Lengyel Caught a Legendary on the First Try and Somehow That Is Not the Story
A Solgaleo capture. A despawned Shiny Rayquaza. A subreddit that would prefer xQc stay where he is. The receipts, in order.
There are weeks when nothing happens, and days when decades happen. Wednesday was neither. Wednesday was a man playing Pokemon and losing something irreplaceable to a mechanic he almost certainly knew about.
To understand the despawn, one must first understand the catch. Earlier on July 8th, documents reviewed by this publication, specifically a clip submitted by /u/scxrI to r/LivestreamFail, appear to show Felix "xQc" Lengyel encountering Solgaleo, a Sun-version box legendary with a base catch rate of 45, and securing it on the first Poke Ball thrown. Chat, functioning as it always does in these moments, responded with the collective energy of a Greek chorus watching Icarus actually stick the landing for once. It was, by any reasonable measure, a good omen.
It did not last.
A second clip, submitted by the same user to the same subreddit within minutes of the first, appears to show xQc arriving at the encounter location for Shiny Rayquaza, one of the more sought-after shinies in the modern games, and discovering that the encounter had despawned. Gone. The Rayquaza, green-tinted and presumably magnificent, had ceased to exist in his save file. xQc's reaction, per the clip, was the kind of silence that communicates more than screaming.
This correspondent has reviewed both posts. The evidence, such as it is, breaks down as follows:
- A clip posted to r/LivestreamFail on July 8th, sourced to xQc's stream, appears to show a successful first-ball Solgaleo catch, according to the submission by /u/scxrI.
- A second clip from the same submission account, posted the same day to r/LivestreamFail, appears to show xQc discovering that a Shiny Rayquaza encounter had despawned, allegedly as a consequence of an action taken earlier in the session, according to the same source.
- A post published July 7th on r/TheKM, the subreddit associated with Ludwig's community, titled "Stay on the other side Xqc" and attributed to /u/Distinct_Power1377, suggests that at least a portion of Ludwig's audience has formed a view on where Felix Lengyel belongs relative to whatever ongoing situation Tyler1 asked him about on July 6th. The post offers no elaboration. It does not need to.
The third item is worth sitting with. The Ludwig situation, which Tyler1 apparently surfaced on stream two days prior, has so far produced no direct public response from xQc and no documented statement from Ludwig's side. What it has produced is a three-word Reddit title from a community subreddit that lands with the quiet finality of a door closing.
The Solgaleo lives. The Rayquaza does not, or at least not in any form xQc can access. The Ludwig community has filed its position. What any of this costs Felix Lengyel, a man who has survived Twitch bans, Lamborghini near-misses, and Streamer University's admissions committee, is unclear. But the Rayquaza was shiny. And shinies, once gone, do not come back.
