El-Sayed Got a Solo Debate Because Rogers Chickened Out. He Still Got Grilled on Hasan Piker the Entire Time.

Mike Rogers announced he would skip the Michigan Senate debate, citing alleged favoritism toward El-Sayed. El-Sayed showed up anyway. The moderators did not get the memo that Hasan Piker was supposed to be old news. According to Foreign Policy Journal and 930 WFMD, El-Sayed faced what multiple outlets are calling an "intense solo grilling" over his ties to Piker, his stance on Israel, and his socialist associations. Alone on that stage. No Rogers to redirect toward.

1. The disavow demand. Per Fox News, El-Sayed was pressed on camera to "100% disavow" Piker's comments. Fox ran this clip twice under two separate headlines in one day, which tells you everything about how that exchange landed. El-Sayed has not, per any available reporting, issued a 100% disavowal.
2. The campaign trail dodge. Also per Fox News, El-Sayed refused to say whether Hasan Piker would campaign with him. Not a no. Not a yes. A studied, careful non-answer that darling, is not a denial.
3. Rogers calls him out from the parking lot. According to FOX 2 Detroit's post-debate reaction room coverage, El-Sayed used his solo stage time to call out Rogers for skipping. Rogers, who reportedly called El-Sayed a "con man" at the RNC midterm convention on September 11 per the known record, apparently decided the debate was beneath him. El-Sayed got the floor. He still couldn't shake the Piker anchor.
4. Sander Levin steps in. In what reads as deliberate counter-programming, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported on September 16 that Sander Levin, a storied Michigan Jewish Democrat, has endorsed El-Sayed. The Levin name carries decades of credibility with exactly the constituency most rattled by the Piker association. Whether it moves numbers is a different question entirely.

And if the solo-debate-still-can't-escape-it energy feels familiar, it's because El-Sayed has now told at least one CBS anchor it was the "third time" she'd asked about "a Twitch streamer in California," pivoted to groceries on Face the Nation, and pivoted to tariffs the day after that.
