Asmongold to Mizkif: You Did This to Yourself

Asmongold is not responsible for Mizkif's troubles. Asmongold would like you to know this.

On July 29, a clip surfaced on r/LivestreamFail in which Asmongold addressed the ongoing Mizkif situation directly. "I hate this idea that he's trying to invent that I caused all these problems for him," he said, according to the clip. "No, I didn't. You caused these problems for yourself." That is, for the record, about as clear a public statement of non-culpability as a streamer can issue without filing paperwork.

And fine. Maybe he's right. But consider the broader picture of July 29 alone: Tectone, who had already inserted himself into the Kaise house video discourse on July 28, posted a clip calling out Nmplol's hypocrisy after Nmplol reportedly lectured Asmongold about needing more compassion. A third streamer, defending Asmongold against a fourth streamer, over the emotional conduct standards of a fifth. This is not the orbit of a man who is outside the drama.

Then on July 30, Asmongold reacted to Sneako recounting the story of losing his virginity in a church. That clip reached r/LivestreamFail. This is not directly related to Mizkif. It is simply what else was happening.

The argument Asmongold is making about Mizkif is coherent enough on its face. The ad-buy story, which broke on July 26, already documented that Mizkif was running paid placements on Asmongold's YouTube channel without prior disclosure. The court condition Asmongold set on July 29, that he will watch the Mizkif video only if Mizkif loses his case first, suggests Asmongold is not exactly invested in Mizkif's success. "You caused these problems for yourself" reads less like a defense and more like a closed door.

Whether that framing survives the next week of content is the actual question. Asmongold has now commented on Mizkif's legal situation, Mizkif's ad strategy, Mizkif's relationships, and Mizkif's culpability for his own circumstances. At some point the volume of commentary becomes its own form of involvement, regardless of what the commentary says.
