A Senate Candidate Allegedly Picked Up the Phone and Begged a Streamer to Please, Please Calm Down
The call was private. The story is not.
Darlings, imagine you are running for U.S. Senate in Michigan. You have a problem. The problem has a Twitch channel and approximately zero chill. So you do what any sensible candidate does: you allegedly pick up the phone and beg.
Per reporting from CNN, Forbes, the New York Post, and roughly eleven other outlets that all dropped this on the same morning, a certain Michigan Democrat reportedly called our favorite streamer-shaped political liability and told him, privately, that the rhetoric was costing him votes. Then, apparently the very next day, that same candidate told Fox News there is "no relationship." Darling, that is not a denial. That is a receipt with a timestamp.
The streamer in question is, of course, Hasan Piker, who has now driven a Senate campaign to both call him and publicly disown him in the span of what appears to be 48 hours. And if this feels familiar, it is because El-Sayed has already done the Fox News distancing tour once this week. Growth!
We wish the candidate strength in this trying time of his own making. The follow-up call, we suspect, will not be coming.
