A Media Outlet Just Compared Sykkuno's Return to Rachel Dolezal. The Reaction Pile Keeps Growing.

On June 20, Mshale published a piece drawing the parallel. It landed as commentary from streamers, fans, and critics was already two weeks deep.

On June 20, the outlet Mshale published a piece headlined "Sykkuno's Return Just Got Absolutely Insane" and invoked Rachel Dolezal, the American woman who falsely claimed a Black racial identity, as a frame for Sykkuno's comeback. The comparison arrived fifteen days after Sykkuno returned to Twitch on June 5, and the reaction conversation it joined had already accumulated responses from multiple prominent streamers.

The Dolezal framing, for the record, centers on identity performance. Mshale's piece appears to draw a line between Sykkuno's carefully maintained on-stream persona and the gap between that persona and the conduct allegations first published by HemomalVT on April 10. The piece does not allege specific facts beyond what has already been reported; it reads as cultural commentary on the nature of the comeback itself.

That commentary landed in a crowded room. Pokimane had already weighed in on June 12, offering measured remarks about the return without endorsing or condemning it directly, according to coverage of her comments. xQc followed on June 15 with his own public take, which was reported as characteristically blunt but stopped short of a definitive verdict on whether the return was warranted. Ludwig, noted in coverage from June 17, commented on the Twitch return in the context of Sykkuno's apparent content purge, framing it as a notable strategic move rather than a moral one.

Sodapoppin's position, established back on April 21, was less ambiguous. He said he was glad Sykkuno had been exposed. That statement has continued to circulate as newer commentary layers on top of it.

The Mshale piece represents a shift in register. Earlier commentary came primarily from within the streaming ecosystem. A publication drawing on cultural shorthand from outside that world suggests the story has moved into a broader media conversation, even if the piece itself is thin on new reporting.

The Icelyn MSN story from April 19 also continues to recirculate in social feeds, keeping the original allegations visible alongside the newer return narrative.

What happens next

Whether additional mainstream outlets pick up the Dolezal framing remains to be seen. Sykkuno has not, as of June 20, responded publicly to the Mshale piece. The content purge reported on June 17 is also unaddressed by Sykkuno in any documented statement.
