A Judge Drew a Line Last Week. One Name Stayed. One Name Walked.
A defamation case, a co-defendant, and a dating rumor debunked in the same 48 hours. It all points somewhere specific.
Somewhere in a court filing dated last week, a judge drew a line. One name stayed on the docket. One name came off.
The name that came off belongs to a Twitch streamer currently between platforms, between organizations, and, as of July 7, between lawsuits. A defamation case brought by fellow creator Mizkif will continue against a co-defendant. That co-defendant happens to be someone a viral rumor, surfaced July 5 and debunked within the same news cycle, suggested was romantically linked to the man who just walked free. Mizkif released a video the same day walking viewers through the suit's details, according to Dexerto. The judge denied the remaining defendant's motion to dismiss.
For the record: the streamer who was dismissed from the case is Asmongold.
What happens next: Whether Asmongold is called as a witness or otherwise drawn back into proceedings has not been addressed publicly. Emiru's next legal response has not been announced. Mizkif has not specified what damages he is seeking in the video.
